Tailor Brands Review: Does AI Stack Up to a Pro Designer?

Welcome! If you’re reading this page, you probably want to know more about our logo and branding partner, Tailor Brands. To help you, we wrote a comprehensive Tailor Brands review with everything you need to know about their platform. We also included a 30% discount in each link on this page.

Tailor Brands is the world’s first AI-powered logo design and branding platform. Their goal is to use artificial intelligence to design brands from the ground up.

Everyone has different goals when starting a business. You might be reading this with a $10 budget or a $100,000 budget. With this review, my goal is to give you informed answers, and help you make a decision on Tailor’s services with confidence.

With our 30% discount, you can get your logo for as little as $6.99. If you don’t see it, use the promo code NAMEBOUNCE at checkout.

Let’s get started!

Tailor Brands Review: Summary of Key Points

Don’t want to read through our full Tailor Brands review? I included a TL:DR version with everything you need to know.

How Tailor’s Platform Works

  1. Tailor generates professional logo designs using a combination of AI and professional graphic designers.
  2. The designers create fonts and graphics. The AI turns the fonts and graphics into logos based on your preferences.
  3. To use Tailor’s logo maker, you enter your business name and answer a series of questions.
  4. I recommend an icon-based logo. They create an added level of uniqueness.
  5. Tailor will create logo designs for free. You purchase if you find a logo that you love.
  6. You can (and should) edit the design of your logo before you purchase it. After you purchase, you CANNOT edit your logo’s font, your business name, or your logo icon.
  7. After you purchase, you CAN edit your color, layout, and tagline.

Plans and Pricing

  1. Tailor offers subscription-based plans. It’s a little confusing at first glance, but you’ll get several ongoing features if you remain on a plan. These include website hosting, a seasonal logo generator, branded designs for social posts, and a social media auto-scheduler (on the Premium plan).
  2. If you aren’t going to use the ongoing features, cancellation is easy. You can cancel through your account in a few clicks. You won’t get stuck in a maze of customer service reps for a week.
  3. If you cancel your membership, you keep the rights to your logo and designs.
  4. The table below shows pricing for each plan. Our 30% discount is available on the first purchase, so I included the base and the discounted price. Tailor offers further discounts on two-year plans.
BasicStandardPremium
Monthly (First Month with Discount)$6.99$13.99$34.99
Monthly (Thereafter)$9.99$19.99$49.99
Annual (First Year with Discount)$2.79/month ($33.51 total)$4.19/month ($50.32 total)$9.09/month ($109.12 total)
Annual (Thereafter)$3.99/month ($47.88 total)$5.99/month ($71.88 total)$12.99/month ($155.88 total)

Website Hosting

  1. Tailor’s website hosting is one of the most compelling reasons to keep an ongoing plan.
  2. With the website builder, you can build your full website before buying anything. This is cool and removes a ton of the guesswork around purchasing.
  3. With Tailor’s Basic Plan, you can use their mini-website builder to create a simple 3-page website.
  4. With the Standard Plan, you get access to Tailor’s full website builder. You get a free domain if you purchase the annual plan.
  5. With the Premium Plan, you can build a complete e-commerce store.
  6. Tailor has 99 different templates to choose from, ranging from a Mobile App to an Escape Room.
  7. With the Basic Plan, you can access 33 of the templates. If you purchase the Standard Plan, you can access most of the remaining templates (59 more). The Premium Plan unlocks the last 7 online store templates.
  8. The website builder includes free SSL, Google Analytics integrations, and 50 customizable drag-and-drop widgets.
  9. Tailor’s website hosting is most comparable to website builders like SquareSpace, Wix, and Weebly. If you want to use WordPress, I recommend SiteGround’s WordPress hosting service. Read our Build a Website Guide for more information.

Tailor Versus a Professional Designer

  1. I spent $1,000 to get a professionally-designed logo and brand identity for NameBounce. Here is how my logo compares to a $6.99 logo designed in 5 minutes on Tailor:
  2. If you can afford to spend $500+ on your logo, it’s worth it. I did it and love the results. With a professional designer, you get a level of customized service no AI can provide.

Tailor Brands Review: The Verdict

  1. If you don’t have $500+ to spend on a logo (like most new business owners), Tailor’s your best bet. You will get a beautiful logo at a crazy affordable price. And you get a ton of other features, like their website builder, that are expensive on other platforms.

How Tailor’s Platform Works

Tailor’s AI will ask you a series of questions to design your logo. The AI will note your preferences and spin up logo designs. You can view the designs for free, and customize them to perfection.

Step 1: Enter Your Logo Name

After you click on our link, we’ll forward you to Tailor’s logo design page.

Your first step is to enter your logo name. You may have this from NameBounce! But if you’re stuck on a name, check out our new course, Naming Made Easy. It’s an extensively tested, one-of-a-kind system that will help you choose a memorable name in record time.

You can enter a tagline into Tailor’s logo maker too. Don’t worry if you don’t have one: you don’t necessarily need a tagline in your logo.

Step 2: Tell Tailor What You are Working On

First, Tailor will ask you what you are working on.

The first screen that appears when you design a logo on Tailor.

After that, they will ask you how you provide your service. You can select online, in-person, or both online and in-person.

Step 3: Enter Your Industry

Next, Tailor will ask you to enter your industry. They have many industries to choose from, ranging from YouTube Gaming to Restaurants. Type some keywords into the search box, and select the industry that is most similar to what you do.

You can also write in a sentence or two about what you do. Tailor’s AI will use the keywords in your response to match you with even better ideas.

After you tell Tailor what you do, they ask you to describe your business.

Step 4: Choose Your Logo Type

Your next step is to choose your logo type. I highly recommend an icon-based logo, as they create an added level of uniqueness that you can’t get with a text-based logo.

Tailor has three major logo options: icon-based, name-based, and initial-based.

Tailor has a ton of icons to choose from.  I managed to find an almost exact replica of Tailor has a ton of icons to choose from. I managed to find an almost exact replica of the professionally-designed “ball” I have in my existing logo. See the comparison here:

Pro Designer ($1,000)Tailor ($6.99)

Step 5: Pick the Fonts You Like

Next, Tailor’s AI will ask you about font styles. Answer each question, and Tailor will start generating the logo ideas.

Choose the logo font styles that suit you best.

Step 6: Customize the Most Promising Logo

After you see the logo designs, scroll through and pick the one you like the most. Don’t focus on finding the perfect one: you just want a base logo that you can customize. Once you find it, click on the “Customize” button.

This is the initial screen that appears when you design your logo.

First, I’d recommend customizing the colors. Tailor will show you several color palettes to choose from.

If you don’t like their color palette ideas, check out the website Coolors. They have a unique platform that will allow you to generate a beautiful color palette in minutes.

You can also customize the icon layout and fonts. After changing the colors, icon layout, and fonts, I went from the logo above to this one:

This is the logo we customized for NameBounce on Tailor Brands.

As you can see, the right colors and font can make a logo stand out even more.

Make sure you edit your logo’s font, business name, and logo icon now. You CANNOT edit your logo’s font, your business name, or your logo icon post-purchase. However, you can edit your color, layout, and tagline.

Step 7: Go to Your Branding Studio

After you find a logo you like, Tailor will take you to their branding studio.

This is a screenshot of the Tailor Brands branding studio.

You can access quite a few features before you purchase a plan. With the website builder, you can build your full website before paying anything.

This is really cool and removes a ton of the guesswork around purchasing. You can try it, see if you like it, and purchase the plan that fits your needs.

Purchasing a Plan

To download a high-res version of your logo and publish your website, you will need to purchase a plan. Use the “upgrade” button towards the top right corner of the page to do this.

Alternatively, Tailor will show you the upgrade page in other spots (for example, if you try to download your high-res logo).

Here is a screenshot of Tailor’s pricing page. Note that the pricing does not include our 30% discount.

The Tailor Brands plans, ranging from $3.99/month to $12.99/month.

I highly recommend the Standard Annual Plan. Tailor’s pricing of $4.19/month is an absolutely crazy deal, especially when you consider website builders like SquareSpace cost a minimum of $12/month. SquareSpace also does not give you your logo and other branding elements.

The table below shows pricing for each plan. Our 30% discount is only available on the first purchase. Tailor also offers further discounts on two-year plans.

BasicStandardPremium
Monthly (First Month with Discount)$6.99$13.99$34.99
Monthly (Thereafter)$9.99$19.99$49.99
Annual (First Year with Discount)$2.79/month ($33.51 total)$4.19/month ($50.32 total)$9.09/month ($109.12 total)
Annual (Thereafter)$3.99/month ($47.88 total)$5.99/month ($71.88 total)$12.99/month ($155.88 total)

Canceling a Plan

Tailor’s plan is straightforward to cancel. Go to your account settings, then navigate over to subscriptions. You’ll want to click on the “deactivate” button to start off. The screen below will appear.

The first screen that appears when you try to cancel a Tailor Brands plan.

After that, Tailor will ask you why you are deleting your account.

The second screen that appears when you try to cancel a Tailor Brands plan.

When I listed “other” as my reason for canceling, I filled out a little more detail with why I cancelled. It was super easy. See the screenshot below, which appeared immediately after I canceled:

A screenshot showing that my plan was immediately cancelled.

The bottom line? If you purchase, you don’t need to worry about Tailor locking you into a plan you don’t want. The cancellation process is a lot better than your TV or internet company (I’m looking at you, AT&T).

Hopefully, this shows you how incredibly easy Tailor’s cancellation process is.

Tailor’s Support

Tailor offers customer support via email. You can use the widget on the right side of the branding studio to contact them. Alternatively, you can email them at [email protected].

Unfortunately, they do not offer phone support at the moment. Phone support is costly, so by not providing it, they can give you better pricing.

This is a screenshot of a widget containing a way to email Tailor.

The Website Builder

Tailor’s website hosting is one of the most compelling reasons to keep an ongoing plan.

With the website builder, you can build your full website before buying anything. This is really cool and removes a ton of the guesswork around purchasing.

Tailor has 99 different templates to choose from, ranging from an escape room to a dentist.

This is a screenshot containing five of Tailor's website templates.

You get access to a different level of the website builder, depending on the plan you purchase. Here’s what you get with each plan:

  • Basic Plan: You get access to their mini-website builder. With the mini website builder, you can create a simple 3-page website. You can access 33 templates to build your website.
  • Standard Plan: You get access to their full website builder. With the full website builder, you can create a blog and a larger site. With the Standard Plan, there are an additional 59 templates (92 total).
  • Premium Plan: You can create an online store, accept online payments, and chat with your website visitors. This unlocks the last 7 online store templates (99 total).
  • With all plans, you get free SSL, Google Analytics integration, and almost 50 customizable drag-and-drop widgets. They also make it easy to optimize your site to rank in Google Search.

If you purchase the Standard or Premium Annual Plans, you get a free domain name for one year. A domain generally costs $10 or so with Namecheap, so that makes the annual plan an even better value.

Tailor’s website hosting is most comparable to website builders like SquareSpace, Wix, and Weebly. If you want to access the full customization power of WordPress, I highly recommend SiteGround’s WordPress hosting service. Read our Build a Website Guide for more information.

Tailor Versus a Professional Designer

When I started NameBounce, I spent almost $1,000 to get a professionally-designed logo and brand identity.

I am super happy with how my logo and branding turned out. My designer did a great job designing a brand that fit my goals.

As such, I can wholeheartedly recommend hiring a professional designer if you can afford it. (Here’s a link to my designer’s website if you’re interested.)

The problem? Most new businesses can’t spend $1,000 on a professional designer. This is one of the biggest reasons why we wrote our Tailor Brands review. A pro designer simply isn’t within the budget of most new entrepreneurs who use NameBounce.

It’s essential to have a logo that you feel confident about. But unless you’re backed by a venture capital fund, every dollar counts when you start a business. So even if you could spend $1,000, it might not be the best use of your money.

With Tailor, you get the best of both worlds. Obviously, it’s not as bespoke as working one-on-one with a human designer. But there is still a level of personalization. And you’ll get fantastic results at 1% of the cost.

How do I know you’ll get fantastic results? It’s because I tested it myself.

On the left side, you’ll see my $1,000 logo.

On the right side, you’ll see a similar logo, designed for $6.99 in 5 minutes on Tailor:

Pro Designer ($1,000)Tailor ($6.99)

Tailor couldn’t have replaced the “O” in NameBounce with the bouncing ball. But it did have almost the exact same icon for the alternative logo. Both of these logos would make my brand stand out.

If you don’t have $500+ to spend on your logo (like most new business owners), Tailor’s your best bet. You will get a beautiful logo at an affordable price.

Tailor Brands FAQ

Question 1: Why is Tailor your recommended logo partner?

We have Tailor front and center on that website, and wrote about them favorably in this Tailor Brands review. So it’s natural to wonder: why do we recommend them?

First, we love that Tailor lets you design your logo for free before you purchase. And you can try out their other tools, like their website builder, for free. This eliminates a lot of the risk before purchasing. If you don’t like what you find, you don’t have to make a purchase.

Secondly, if you like NameBounce, you will like Tailor. Their platform is remarkably similar to ours.

  • NameBounce uses a smart search algorithm to create names. Our goal is to help everyone find a high-quality name, regardless of budget.
  • Tailor uses a combination of AI and professional graphic designers to create logos. Their goal is to provide powerful branding to anyone, regardless of budget.

Thirdly, it’s incredibly affordable. SquareSpace charges $12/month for their website builder alone. With Tailor, you get the website builder, logo, social media designs, a brand book, professional letterhead, and more. And it costs less than half of what SquareSpace costs.

Question 2: Can I edit my logo post-purchase?

Yes, but there are a few caveats. Here is what you CAN and CANNOT edit:

  • You CANNOT edit your logo’s font, your business name, or your logo icon post-purchase.
  • You CAN edit your color, layout, and tagline.

Be very careful to only purchase your logo when you’re OK with the core elements (name, font, and icon).

Question 3: If I cancel, do I keep the design rights to my logo?

Yes. After you purchase, you always keep the rights to your logo and designs.

Question 4: What do I get with each plan?

See the screenshot below. The pricing does not include our 30% discount. After you design your logo, click the “upgrade” button in the brand studio for more detail.

The Tailor Brands plans, ranging from $3.99/month to $12.99/month.

Question 5: How much does each plan cost?

See the table below for Tailor’s pricing with our 30% discount. You can get further discounts if you purchase a two-year plan.

BasicStandardPremium
Monthly (First Month with Discount)$6.99$13.99$34.99
Monthly (Thereafter)$9.99$19.99$49.99
Annual (First Year with Discount)$2.79/month ($33.51 total)$4.19/month ($50.32 total)$9.09/month ($109.12 total)
Annual (Thereafter)$3.99/month ($47.88 total)$5.99/month ($71.88 total)$12.99/month ($155.88 total)

Question 6: How do I use your 30% discount?

Accessing our discount is easy! Click here, and you’ll go to Tailor with the discount applied. If you don’t see it, use the code NameBounce at checkout.

Question 7: Is your 30% discount valid on subsequent purchases?

For the time being, it is only valid on the first purchase.

Question 8: Why not use a free logo design tool?

Tailor’s platform is far more robust than any of the other free websites. It’s difficult to design logos, and it’s especially hard to program an AI to mimic the work of a professional designer. Tailor has raised over $20 million in venture capital funding to tackle this problem.

Even though I run a free tool, naming is much simpler than logo design. My tool takes into account words and word associations. Logo design has to take into account your stylistic preferences, typical styles for your industry, different font styles, color palettes, and icons.

Question 9: I’m starting a YouTube channel. Can I use Tailor to get my channel cover art?

Yes! If you’re starting a YouTube channel, Tailor has everything you need to launch. They even have a specific template for YouTube channel art. Here’s an example that I designed for my own Tailor logo:

I designed sample YouTube channel cover art with Tailor.

Tailor Brands Review: The Verdict

Obviously, we recommend Tailor’s services. Otherwise, we wouldn’t stick our necks out by having them front and center throughout our website. And we wouldn’t have written about them so favorably in this review.

In fact, I (Axel) just purchased a logo from Tailor for my personal website, axeldeangelis.com. It was a no-brainer given the cost and quality. Here is how it turned out:

This is a logo that Axel (the post writer) purchased for his personal website.

Of course, everyone has different goals. If you have $500+ to spend on your logo, feel free to hire someone to do it for you. With a professional designer, there’s a level of customized service that no AI can provide. I went this route with NameBounce and was 100% happy with the results.

But if you don’t have $500+ to spend on a logo (like most new business owners), Tailor’s by far your best bet. You will get a beautiful logo at a crazy affordable price. And you get a ton of other features, like their website builder, that are extremely expensive on other platforms.
